Flush or traditional hinged door: why choose it
A flush hinged door opens exactly like a traditional door, but it completely changes the way you perceive the room. Without jambs or architraves, the wall becomes a continuous surface again: the passage reads only as a thin cut, and the door blends with the colours, wallpapers and finishes of the room. That is why people often talk about a hinged door without a frame, even though the frame is actually there: it simply stays hidden in the wall.
Compared with a sliding door, a hinged door needs no counterframe occupying the wall next to the opening, and offers an immediate gesture and good sound insulation. Compared with a classic door, it eliminates frames and projections, makes cleaning easier and leaves more freedom for furnishing.
A flush hinged door works in every room of the home: in bedrooms and studies it ensures privacy and quiet, in bathrooms it pairs with locks, in the living area it can become a full-height door that elongates the wall. And if the goal is to hide a storeroom or a walk-in wardrobe, the flush leaf blends into the wall until it disappears.
It is also one of the most requested solutions for a plasterboard wall with a hinged door, in both new builds and renovations, where it lets you redesign spaces quickly and cleanly.
How to choose the right flush hinged door
To choose the most suitable flush hinged door, start from the wall: masonry or plasterboard, and its thickness. Then define the opening direction, push or pull, remembering that the flush side changes depending on your choice, and consider whether you need the flexibility of a reversible model such as xREVERx, which lets you change your mind even while work is under way, without replacing the door.
Next, consider the height: a standard leaf, a full-height door or a version for sloping ceilings. Finally, think about the finish, painted like the wall for an invisible effect or customised with RAL colours, wallpaper or microcement. To complete the project, pair it with the Absolute Rush flush skirting board and Absolute Smart access panels.
Accessories matter too: concealed hinges keep the leaf surface clean, the Silentia soft-close system guides the door shut without slamming and magnetic locks keep visible elements to a minimum. If the door separates the sleeping area, choose a model with good sound insulation.
